DESCRIPTION: The gall mite here causes bright red pustules that are greenish yellow at first and can be found on the host's leaves massed in large numbers. Each pustule is up to 3mm high and has an uneven surface with a blunt apex. The larvae escape through hair fringed openings on the underside of the gall and make their way to crevices in the bark where they overwinter. DISTRIBUTION: Frequent throughout Britain. HABITAT: Found on the leaves of Field Maple.
